Amanda Nelson, Ph.D.

Amanda Nelson, Ph.D., is a licensed mental health practitioner specializing in behavioral pediatrics. She studied at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln prior to earning her Master of Education in Human Development and Doctorate in School Psychology from Lehigh University. Dr. Nelson completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Munroe-Meyer Institute and Children’s Nebraska in Developmental Pediatrics and Integrated Primary Care. She has also received training from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Nemours Children’s Hospital, alongside several school settings. She is currently completing her post-doctoral fellowship with the Behavioral Pediatric and Family Therapy Program.

Dr. Nelson is dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized, collaborative, and evidence-based care to her clients. Her approach to evaluation and therapeutic services incorporates principles of Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Her clinical interests center on working with parents and children experiencing early childhood emotional and behavioral concerns, sleep concerns, adjustment disorders, anxiety and mood concerns, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and autism spectrum disorder.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, cooking, exercising, and caring for their cat, Millie. She is also an avid Husker sports fan. Dr. Nelson is originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, and is passionate about supporting children and families in this community by providing a welcoming and caring space for growth.
