Amanda B. Setlak, Ph.D.

Dr. Amanda Setlak, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist with over 15 years of experience in the field of mental health. She earned her doctorate in School Psychology from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and began her career at Boys Town Center for Behavioral Health, where she worked extensively with at-risk youth. During her time there, she developed an academic skills program, provided educational consultation to their level 3 day school, and provided outpatient therapy. Dr. Setlak has continued this work through school-based consultation and primarily in private practice, supporting children, adolescents, and families across a variety of needs.

Dr. Setlak’s therapeutic approach integrates behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, and acceptance-based strategies to help clients build resilience and live fuller, more meaningful lives. She focuses on empowering children, adolescents, and their parents to approach challenges in productive ways, shift their relationship with difficult emotions, and develop psychological flexibility in service of their values. Her clinical expertise includes supporting clients through life transitions, managing anxiety and mood disorders, improving attention and impulse control, enhancing executive functioning, strengthening parent-child relationships, and collaborating with schools to optimize educational success.

Outside the therapy room, Dr. Setlak enjoys a lively and active home life with her husband, two children, a spirited dog, and a mischievous cat (who never misses a chance to chase the dog). Whether cheering on her kids at their sporting events—where they now proudly outpace and outplay her—or spending time outdoors, especially by a lake, Dr. Setlak values staying connected and present. She’s also passionate about music, travel, and rooting for her favorite teams, the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. Above all, she feels deeply honored to walk alongside her clients on their paths to growth and healing.
